Hi, I'm searching for a professional channel editor for startsat x5d, I already found some like 'em edit' and 'stb db editor' but they have limited features, I am searching for a channel editor which supports. Registered: Posts: 1,011 Posted Looks like there were various threads about channel editors for different AXBox receivers, so I figured to start a thread specifically about the Premium Plus. I've been trying a couple channel editors I found out there with no luck. The AZBoxEdit v0.9.7b and the AZBox Remote Control Editor. The AZBoxEdit is the one that seems to be more detailed to work with the receiver, but with both I'm having issues downloading the data from the receiver. I have the FTP connection configured and tested, but when attempting to download data I get a 'Unknown Error: No connection' established message. Will I ran a Wireshark trace during the command and the error is really the fact that there is no vsftpd directory where it is expected. I'm guessing that this particular editor is not compatable with the Plus receiver.

If I use get the files from the receiver directly in the AZBoxEdit, from the /DISK2 directory and open them with the editor, there are various runtime errors. I'm no Linux guru, but I though it may be possible to the ftp config file to use the /DISK2 as the root directory so it points to the proper location of the files. Registered: Posts: 310 Posted ive used maz2.3 with firmware 4690 with limited success. You can edit one sat name per program start. Then save the channel list and exit maz. Reload maz and edit another sat name and repeat.

I built a NA satlist like this yesterday. I could grab the channel list from and load it back to the azbox as well with maz. When i tried editing tp info it toasted the sat list on the azbox.

I then edited all the tp info by remote and scanned my ku dish. Saved the data via maz. Then today i entered all my cband tp info and scanned that completely. Then on my first channel change somehow i toasted my sat list again. I should have saved it before i started surfing.

So much work to redo it all now. ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR CHANNEL SCANS. Well ill be back to finding bugs on my elite as soon as my kids hit the sack. I havent had nintendo thumbs in a few years anyways. When I first setup the Az+ I had no cable for network yet, so I pulled a channel backup to usb stick and used Maz to save the three files - then AZBoxEdit to insert the satellites.xml file, back to Maz to convert to channel.bak, and finally - back to the box via usb stick, whew. Found the safest way to backup info is FTP using a client not an editor, I use Fireftp. Haven't used AZBoxEdit since, and use Maz just for the telnet and screenshots. I don't fuss with channel names much and have gotten use to their existing ones. Found this backup method on the internet. ___________________________________________________________________________ Full backup of settings,sats/channels (and plugins if you have any). Connect via telnet to Azbox and type the following commands: cd / tar -cvzf /tmp/bckDISK2.tgz /DISK2 tar -cvzf /tmp/bckPLUGINS.tgz /PLUGINS ( *skip if no plugins) FTP these files to a Backup Folder on your PC, they vanish on reboot!
