I'm a new homeowner, and a couple months ago I installed a new halogen flood light in my back yard that is motion-activated and has a photo cell. I don't remember the brand or any of that, and of course have long since recycled the packaging for it. It was set up so it would automatically come on dim at dusk, and back off when the sun comes back up. And any motion detected during that time would bring it on to full strength.
Since this is my first home, and this was one of my first DIY projects, I was quite proud of myself for completing this simple task. But last night I noticed that the light was staying on full strength all the time. I flipped the switch off, left it for a couple minutes, then turned it back on. At that point both lights flashed and then went out completely.
It has a blue LED that lights up when motion is detected, and that still worked - but that was it. I dug up a flashlight and investigated, and both light bulbs were burned out. So off I go today to Lowe's and picked up a couple replacement bulbs for about $10. I installed them (not touching the bulbs, per instructions on the box and the guy at Lowe's that helped me find the right bulb).
The dang things just stay on full strength all time. I've adjusted settings, turned it off and back on, but it's still just on all the time. Any suggestions? I know it's kind of difficult since I don't have a clue what brand, model, etc. Ah, I found where I blogged about this - installed it in December - here are pics: » Thanks for your help! EDIT: The brand is EML, and I bought it at Costco.
If all else fails I can go by and figure out the model, if they still have any in stock. Curious thing that it's the dim/bright kind. I had something like it (was not halogen) years ago and I remember it doing the same thing but it lasted at least a few years before that happened. I wanted to replace it and never found one again. Couldn't be sure if it failed because of the dimming circuit but that's what I figured it was. It also had the ability to be switched to always on by turning it off momentarily then back on (think many do).
I thought maybe those with dim/bright had problems which was why I couldn't find another. Thanks PeeWee! I got a response from EML: Hello, you can call the toll free customer service number at 866 620 2985 for general information. Download jeena song of badlapur. If the lamp is defective, you can usually return it to Costco for an immediate replacement, If youre missing a receipt you can simply return the sensor head via postal service to: EML Technologies PO Box 460 Danville, CA 94526 A replacement unit will be sent to you in 4-6 weeks or less. I'll be trying to return it to Costco today.
I'd hoped to do it yesterday, but I ended up working in the yard all day.
N Roaches Unscrewing Lightbulbs n. You just never know. Catalyst ex software stratasys. From your question I would assume it's YOU that needs the help in screwing in the light bulb. If you have Cockroaches then get them to do it! I'll assume that you aren't just joking. The answer is, no.
While they are as remarkable in their ability to survive anywhere as they are unpleasant to have around, and even though their survival skills have evolved from the days of the dinosaurs, they haven't quite reached the point where they can meddle with mechanical devices. If you have a lightbulb that becomes loose, I think you'll have to look for a different culprit than the cockroach. Although, if you see them doing it, please let us know.
