PRICING vRealize Log Insight is available for purchase two ways. It is available per operating system image (OSI), with one flat rate for collecting logs from any server, virtual machine or hypervisor.
It is also available per CPU, for one flat rate fee for collecting all logs generated from the hypervisor and any guests on a single CPU socket. Purchasing Options • Per Operating System: vRealize Log Insight is licensed on a per operating system instance (OSI) basis, which is defined as any server, virtual or physical, with an IP address that generates logs, including network devices and storage arrays. You can analyze an unlimited amount of log data per OSI. The advantage of this is a simple and predictable pricing model that is based on the size of the infrastructure. You don’t have to buy additional licenses to cover the worst-case scenario and pay more for increased log volumes. This is an important distinction because systems and devices can generate huge amounts of log data during peak times, or while monitoring and troubleshooting for various IT issues.
Last week, VMware has announced its latest analytics product: VMware vCenter Log Insight. Part of VMware vCenter, delivers automated log management through log analytics, aggregation, and search, extending VMware’s leadership in analytics to log data.
• Per CPU: vRealize Log Insight is also available on a per CPU basis, where there is one flat fee for all log data sources from a single CPU, regardless of hypervisor or number of guest OSs. For more information about pricing, contact Sales.
Log Insight is bundled in multiple ways today. If you wondering if you are entitled to Log Insight with your existing VMware licenses then read on! The table below states the minimum version of Log Insight and Product required to get included licensing. If you are running older versions than you are not entitled to the included licenses.
Log Insight,Product,What You Get 3.3.0,vCenter 5 *,25 OSI of ** 3.3.0,vCloud Suite 7,1:1 CPU of Log Insight Standard 3.3.0,vRealize Suite 7,1 CPU:1 PLU or 15 OSI:1 PLU of Log Insight Standard 3.3.2,NSX 6.1.0 ***,1:1 CPU or 1 CPU:50 CCU of
* While vCenter 5.0 and newer are supported, Log Insight 3.3.0 only accepts license keys from vCenter 6.0 and newer. You can find a license key that can be used for vCenter 5.0 on the VMware download page. Alternatively, Log Insight 3.3.2 accepts vCenter 5.0 license keys natively.
** If you wish to take advantage of Log Insight for vCenter then you must apply the vCenter license as the FIRST license to your Log Insight instance. Also note you can only apply ONE vCenter license per Log Insight instance. *** You must be entitled to NSX 6.2.3, but Log Insight 3.3.2 will accept license keys from NSX 6.1.0 and newer. You can combine offers on the same Log Insight instance. The only thing to remember is the vCenter license MUST be the first license applied to the Log Insight instance. Some examples: • 5 vCenter licenses — You need to deploy 5 separate Log Insight instances and ensure the vCenter license is the first license applied. Note this gets you Log Insight for vCenter edition, which has a limited feature set.
• 1 NSX license — You need a single Log Insight instance. Note this gets you Log Insight for NSX edition, which has the complete Log Insight feature set, but only allows collection of events from vSphere and NSX as well as only the vSphere and NSX-v content packs. • 1 vCenter License, 2 vCloud Suite licenses — You need a single Log Insight instance, ensure the vCenter license is the first license applied, then add the 2 vCloud Suite licenses. Note this gets you the complete Log Insight feature set. • 1 vCenter License, 1 vCloud Suite license, 2 NSX licenses — You need a single Log Insight instance, ensure the vCenter license is the first license applied, then add the vCloud Suite and NSX licenses (order does not matter). Note this gets you the complete Log Insight feature set.
